The Arcane Levitator is a block from Thaumcraft 3 capable of lifting a player or creature upwards, or slowing their descent.
Standing on an active Levitator will lift a player about 10 blocks. If underneath a Levitator, falling will occur at a gentle rate, slow enough to prevent fall damage, within 10 blocks of the Levitator. If multiple Levitators are stacked on top of each other, each Levitator adds 10 blocks to the distance of the effect.
Applying a Redstone signal to an Arcane Levitator deactivates it.

Flight is one of mans oldest dreams and magic should be able to accomplish that. Or at least something close. You have stumbled upon a way to break the earth's shackles and counteract gravity in a fairly limited area.
Thaumonomicon Entry[edit]
While not true flight, the Arcane Levitator is the next best thing.
When placed the levitator lifts any item or creature above it up to 10 blocks into the air. Anything below the levitator is slowed enough to negate falling damage. Doing so costs a small amount of vis drawn from the nearby aura.
Each levitator placed upon another increase the range at which it can lift or slow entities by 10 blocks, so a stack of 3 can lift entities up to 30 blocks.
Levitators can be deactivated by applying a redstone signal to them.
Recipe[edit]
Crafting the Arcane Levitator must be done at the Infusion Altar. It requires 50 vis from the wand, as well as 8 Motus, 8 Solum, 8 Volito, and 8 Machina from nearby sources.
