The Deer is the Twilight Forest equivalent to the Cow in vanilla Minecraft. It has a slimmer model than the regular Cow, being about as tall and long but far less wide. They can be transformed into regular Cows with the use of Transformation Powder. Unlike regular Cows, they drop Raw Venison instead of Raw Beef upon death. However, Venison functions exactly the same in food value as regular Beef does. Venison can also be cooked into Venison Steak.

Deer can be led and bred with Wheat, just as regular Cows can. However, as with other breedable Twilight Forest mobs, they do not display the "hearts" particle effect when entering "love mode", and as such, it can be confusing to the player as to whether or not Deer can be bred.

Trivia

Due to the nature of the way that Minecraft deals with baby mobs (scaling down only the body and not the head), Baby Deer have horns and heads of identical size to their parents, which can appear very strange, considering that the total volume of the mesh for the horns is larger than that of the body mesh for a baby Deer.
