A Bookshelf is a block from vanilla Minecraft which is used for decoration and improving the capabilities of the Enchantment Table. It also have several new uses added by mods in Feed The Beast.
In Thaumcraft, using a wand on a bookcase will create a Thauminomicon, which will explain the mechanics of the mod and keep track of research progress. Bookshelves may also be trader to certain villagers for Knowledge Fragments.
In Mystcraft, Bookshelves maybe found in Abandoned Libraries. These are a good source of books when creating Linking Books.
In BuildCraft, the bookshelf is used to craft the Blueprint Library.
