Ancient Doorway is a multiblock structure added by Thaumcraft 4 mod. It spawns in Eldritch Dimension right before the boss room. It consists of 24 Ancient Doorway blocks in a ring shape of 7x7 and 1 Ancient Locking Mechanism block in the middle of the ring. When the structure is complete, 4 pillars will go from top, bottom, right and left sides of the Ancient Locking Mechanism block towards the central Ancient Doorway blocks. The area inside the ring will be covered with the texture taken from Portal to Nothing block, and is solid despite there are no blocks. This happens because of the sugnificant collision box increase of the Ancient Locking Mechanism when it is placed inside of the ring.
The ring acts as a door to boss room and can be opened by clicking Ancient Locking Mechanism block with the Runed Tablet. After that the texture of Ancient Locking Mechanism block will change, the pillars will go inside of this block and the void texture will vanish. Finally, the Ancient Locking Mechanism block will disappear, opening the way to the boss.
The boss room is meant not to be reachable to the player before the door is opened and will remain completely empty before that action. After the door is opened, the boss room will be filled with some blocks related to the randomly chosen boss and then spawn the boss.
The Ancient Locking Mechanism block can be picked up in creative with middle click or in survival with Vajra. Placing it anywhere else in the Eldritch Dimension and activating it again will completely wipe everything in the nearest boss room and then spawn a new boss and new blocks inside. However, activating it in any other dimension will cause the world to be corrupted without any opportunity to be restored.
