The Filler is a machine added in BuildCraft version 1.6.5 to fill whole areas with blocks. A Filler must be placed next to a Land Mark, similar to a Quarry, in order to function. Two additional Land Marks along the X and Z axis relative to the first define the area to be filled. One more Land Mark to define the Y area to be filled is optional.
Fillers consume power at a rate of 50 MJ/t to run at full speed, but will still function with less power.
The Filler can be attached to a Transport Pipe or other similar items in order to have blocks continuously pumped into its internal storage, allowing for some automation.
Before BuildCraft 4.2, modes are set with the built-in crafting grid using brick blocks and glass blocks. Post 4.2, the Filler has an improved GUI that allows the player to simply toggle the mode without the need for bricks or glass.
As of BuildCraft version 3.4+, any blocks that cannot be obtained by breaking it with your fist, will only drop as an item after 1/2 a second and then disappear after a further 1/2 a second. This prevents use of the filler as a cheap quarry alternative, or causing client render lag from excessive items on the ground.
