Thorium Cells are one of the Cells introduced in GregTech 4.

Production

Thorium Cells can be produced in different ways, either as a product or as a side-product:

• Processing Uranium Dust in an Industrial Centrifuge: 16 pieces of uranium dust with some Empty Cells produce 4 thorium cells as a side-product
• Centrifuging 2 Near-Depleted Uranium Cells yields 1 thorium cell. This path allows you to make 1 Refined Uranium into 4 thorium cells, quadrupling the energy yield.
• 64 Coal Dust and one empty cell will also yield one single Thorium Cell.
• Put a Coal Ore block (gained with Silk Touch) in an Industrial Grinder and you will receive one tiny pile of Thorium dust. As with any other tiny pile, craft four together into one thorium dust.
• One Monazit Ore in an Industrial Grinder will produce one pile of Thorium dust

Uses

Thorium cells are used in Nuclear Reactors to produce EU energy. Thorium cells produce one fifth as much power and heat per tick as Uranium Cells but last five times as long. The total energy per cell is 2-10 million EU and it takes 50000 second(GregTech 2.90h: 25000) for Thorium Cell to run out. The strength of Thorium reactors is endurance, not blunt power output.
