Sand Shot is one of the bullet types added by Xeno's Reliquary, These are anti-creeper rounds which also stop the weather. They're noticeably weaker if fired while raining. It's beneficial to stop the weather first, if you're outside. If it's raining and you're underground, unfortunately this becomes impossible.
