Quartz Crystals are a naturally spawning gem added by XyCraft. It is a teal-colored crystal that can be mined without a tool, and makes the same sound as glass when broken. Quartz Crystals are very common, and can be found at any depth below sea level (Y=63 and below.) There are three stages of growth the crystal can exhibit, shown by the addition of more crystals to the cluster. Quartz crystals will naturally grow in size over time. Upon mining, the player receives at least one quartz crystal, more depending on the size of the deposit.

Usage[edit]

An example of natural quartz crystal.

Aesthetics[edit]

Quartz Crystals are mostly an aesthetic block that can be placed and will grow like naturally spawned crystals do. The player can also manually increase the size of the crystal if the player right-clicks on the placed crystal with more crystals, up to twice to create a three-crystal cluster.

However, these Crystals if placed to be a 3rd Stage Crystal may Convert into a 1st Stage Crystal.

Light[edit]

Quartz deposits glow, giving off a light level of eight. This block, however, cannot be used as effective lighting sources as hostile mobs can spawn at light levels of seven and below.

Damage[edit]

As of XyCraft 1.4.7, Quartz Crystals also behave like Cactus blocks, causing damage if touched and destroying items that come in contact with it. This makes quartz crystals a possibility to deal with occasional spills of items.
