User talk:Quick Minecraft Tutorials

Hey! While we appreciate all of the edits done by users, our Style Guide includes the following paragraph:
This wiki is not the place for advertisement. Videos should not excessively or only promote a channel, series, etc. or ask for likes, favorites and/or subscribers in an excessive way. Users are free to add their own videos to articles, but if this is done excessively or continuously without contributing any other content, the changes will be reverted.

I am going to revert your changes. If you have any further questions regarding videos or wiki editing in general, you can ask me on my talk page. -- OstPavel (talk • contributions) 20:38, 18 December 2015 (CET)

In addition to the policy stated above by OstPavel, the videos you added, although clearly showing your proficiency in the mod, are inadequate and unclear as tutorials, due to the high speed of execution and the lack of narration making it difficult to understand. I sincerely hope you will receive this as positive criticism and continue to improve your skills. Your idea of making short concise tutorials is valid and well worth pursuing, so I wish you the best and hope that eventually one of your videos will be featured on the Wiki. --JC the Techie (talk) 04:24, 19 December 2015 (CET)
Err... Sorry about that. I'm back (After like a year of silence xD Whoops) and this time I promise to try and not do that. Just trying to help players out. A bit of a late response as well, sorry. My bad. :P I made about 3 new contributions recently and actually added some actual info this time. I included some basic descriptions of the stuff as well as the recipe. I'm still learning how to use the wiki though. I'm having fun at least. I may become an active member. *Shrug* If you got any tips, feel free to share. Usually I moderate and get involved on forums, not wikis so this is a first for me. :P Btw, do you know how to change your display name? I feel like "Quick_Minecraft_Tutorials" is a bit too long. And a bit improper if I'm gonna become active on here, imo. -- Quick Minecraft Tutorials 19:25, 30 October 2016 (EST)

Welcome Back[edit]

Hey, welcome back to the wiki! Thanks for contributing. If you are contributing quality content to the wiki, feel free to add in your videos, as long as they meet our video guidelines in the style guide. I will add some additional technical information to your articles where needed. If you have any questions about editing or anything really, feel free to drop me a line on my talk page. It's best to add a new section each time you ask a question using the "+" button in the tools bar on the talk page. ~~ RZR0 (Talk | Contributions) 15:17, 31 October 2016 (CET)

Contributor rank[edit]

I was surprised you don't have contributor rank yet, considering your recent (and also old) contributions and their quality. Well, now you have it. This will make your edits automatically "checked", so they won't need an admin to patroll them. Also it adds some more tools for wiki editing, such as the ability to move pages. I have also promoted you to contributor on forums, but I don't think it affects anything. User PageTalk PageContributions 12:52, 6 November 2016 (CET)

Ooh, neato! I'm still learning my way around the wiki, but glad to help. Thanks. :D --Quick Minecraft Tutorials (Talk • Contributions) 12:16, 6 November 2016 (EST)

Multiple items on one page[edit]

I have seen you created Knightly Tools recently. We usually do one article per one item for several reasons:

  • If this article contains a recipe which uses item A, then on the page of item A there will be a link to this article. If the article is not named after this item, this link will be broken unless a redirect page is created.
  • If someone types the name of the item in the search bar, there will be no page with this name and the user will not be able to find the needed article. Again, if no redirect page is present.
  • There is a grid and item or block image for each item and it goes automatically in the infobox unless the article is not named after a certain item.
  • Finally, there can be some minor changes about the items presented on one article which should find its place in the infobox. I have not seen someone did this so far, and this gives not full information about the items.

So, to sum up, I strongly recommend you doing one article per one item unless there is a real reason for not doing so. In the last cases you should try to add all the information you will loose when doing multiple items on one page. It includes:

  • Creating redirect pages for each item to the article this item is presented in.
  • Creating either a new texture file for each grid type or item or block type which contains the textures of all items described in the article or making a slideshow of textures as in Tallow Candle article, f.e.
  • Adding all the information about each item in the infobox using the maximum amount of arguments possible.
  • Showing what is different between the described items in the infobox. F.e. damage 5-7 or id modname_suchitem:1-3

As you see, it is much easier to create one page for one item, as recommended. User PageTalk PageContributions 05:12, 12 November 2016 (CET)

Ahh, alrighty. I'll keep that in mind for the future. I saw the blank page in the modnav as well as the pages Ironwood Tools, Fiery Tools, and Steeleaf Tools, so I just kinda followed/referenced those pages when creating the Knightly Tools page. Well, I don't mind re-editing the pages though and making new pages for each tool though. If I don't forget and got time, I'll fix it. Ty for the info, btw. ~~ Quick Minecraft Tutorials (Talk|Contributions) 06:10, 12 November 2016 (CET)
Thanks for understanding) It is really nice to see you making such progress in working with wiki, and how this helps you to increase the quality of your content. Unfortunately, there is not enough skillful contributors, so many pages are written either not fully or with several mistakes. When I have started my wiki activity, I have carried obe of them along more than 500 articles I have written before me and RZR0 discussed it and corrected (was a very hard work though). So don't think I'm a local "bad cop" who is always dissatisfied with everyone's work, I'm just trying to help before it's too late. User PageTalk PageContributions 09:19, 12 November 2016 (CET)

Sorry for the spam page creations, info additions, lil fixes, file uploads, etc xD Had a day off and got super bored. Decided to fix some of them red links - that I've been seeing around the wiki - and turn them into blue links. :P
