Hey, thanks for your contributions for Magneticraft. It is common that some mods are not known or liked enough by active contributors so they remain undone for a very long time. And this is why your contributions to one of these mods are especially valuable. Keep up good work! If you need help in something, and it involves textures, ask RZR0, he will do it in no time. If not, you can ask me also :) --Antillar (talk) 21:33, 2 April 2016 (CEST)

Thanks Antillar! RZR0 was already helping with textures and style. --Kollins (talk) 22:01, 2 April 2016 (CEST)

Crusher Grid[edit]

You have uploaded {{Grid/Crusher}} RZR0 and me helped you with just now. Very good that you did not stop where you lack the tools for pages and created a new tool to use. Same did I when I started contributing, my first grid was Infusion_Altar_TC4. Here are some tips for grid templates that may help you if you want to create another one.

  • When you create background picture, try not to leave transparent areas in corners which are not used by anything. As of my experience, this is better to take care of in the beginning than to have a headache removing it and fixing everything afterwards.
  • Background picture is usually taken from NEI-type mods, as it suits the font of the existing ones. But try to crop the picture by leaving only the fields you need for the recipe. In the picture you have uploaded I have cropped the inventory and some empty space. I have left energy line because I thought that you were going to add a dynamic energy meter in there, or maybe add it for you. Then RZR0 removed energy and all the excess space, leaving only the essence of the recipe, which is what should be there most probably.
  • The size of one slot should be 32x32 pixels, not 16x16. This makes the articles more readable.
  • Mention the real image size, this will help adding parts to the grid a lot.
  • To add parts to the grid in wanted spaces, the easiest way to position those correctly (what I came up with) is to open the background image in any image editor (I used Paint), zoom in maximum and position cursor on the very top-left corner of the field. The coordinates below will be shown, and you insert them easily to the grid.
  • Finally, after doing any changes to the template, click refresh at the documentation page, or else it will show outdated version of your grid.

Hope it helps you in adding new grids for your mod. --Antillar (talk) 20:32, 4 April 2016 (CEST)

    • Thanks for the help! I was in the middle of doing the above, though it would have been slower for me by trial and error, when you guys jumped in and fixed it! All I had so far was the image pulled from the mod's .jar and hadn't had a chance to edit it and compare it to the SAG Mill template I was using as a reference.
    • I tried to add the Crusher also, but I had some trouble using the Grinder's GUI image in that template. The Sifter doesn't use a GUI, but would need a similar template as it also has 1x 100% output and 2x 5% output chances. --Kollins (talk) 20:38, 4 April 2016 (CEST)

Sifter[edit]

I've created a sifter template, but the sifter only has 2 outputs according to the source code. ~~ RZR0 (Talk | Contributions) 20:50, 4 April 2016 (CEST)

Thaumcraft aspects[edit]

Hey, the bottom of a lot of articles list the aspects they have for Thaumcraft with the {{Thaumcraft4/Aspect/Data}} template. I've seen you copy those from articles to others without updating them. You should just remove them from the article as it is important that they are not listed incorrectly. I'll update add the correct ones in later. ~~ RZR0 (Talk | Contributions) 21:17, 4 April 2016 (CEST)

  • Yea I noticed that after seeing your revisions. I have been updating them with accurate information on the pages I created today. --Kollins (talk) 21:24, 4 April 2016 (CEST)
    • I don't really get the thaumcraft aspects the way they are now. They appear to be commented out with carrot, bang, minus minus but they are still there. This is why I left the 1st ones I copied unchanged, because I thought it was a useless comment. It also appears that RZR0 has a bot that is adding the apsects in, since one of the pages I made was edited to have the same aspects, just in a new order. If this is true, is it better to just leave out the thaumcraft aspects and let the bot fill them in? Thinking about this, would it be easier to just use the bare templates from the editor and let this bot fill everything in or is some of this being added manually and that would be making somebody's job harder? --Kollins (talk) 02:13, 5 April 2016 (CEST)

Cooler[edit]

Quick question, why did you disambiguate Cooler (Magneticraft)? I can't seem to find any other cooler on the wiki? ~~ RZR0 (Talk | Contributions) 22:37, 4 April 2016 (CEST)

2 reasons: I thought I remembered another mod having a cooler in an FTB pack, but can't find a link to it. Cooler and Heat Sink perform similar uses and the heat sink was already disambig when I was borrowing code from it. --Kollins (talk) 01:56, 5 April 2016 (CEST)
Generally we only disambiguate when it is necessary, so I'll probably remove the disambiguation from that one then. ~~ RZR0 (Talk | Contributions) 02:59, 5 April 2016 (CEST)
As I'm adding the chunk pages (go notepad++ global replace!), I noticed some of those are disambig and some aren't. Should they all be or just the ones that are known to have chunks from other mods? I'm also not sure about the links on the uranium chunk. --Kollins (talk) 03:07, 5 April 2016 (CEST)
If the page isn't disambiguated, then the name in the recipe shouldn't be either. ~~ RZR0 (Talk | Contributions) 13:40, 5 April 2016 (CEST)

YouTube[edit]

I wanted to see if someone could clarify so I don't go too far. I made quick videos specifically for the Crusher (Magneticraft), Grinder (Magneticraft) and Sifter (Magneticraft) but I wanted to make sure I wasn't crossing too many lines. Yes, part of me wants the traffic and to say I have videos on the wiki, but I did also want to get the information out there. Is it OK to have a little blurp about my channel on my Kollins page? Is it OK to make and post videos for other items that don't have any and are complicated enough to warrant a video guide? --Kollins (talk) 01:56, 5 April 2016 (CEST)

As long as you follow the guidelines for videos in the Style Guide, it's fine. Feel free to advertise your channel on your user page. ~~ RZR0 (Talk | Contributions) 02:57, 5 April 2016 (CEST)
