Separation from AE1?[edit]
Do we need to separate this from Applied Energistics 1? As far as I know there have been some changes in how some items are created, there is now a certain limit on the size of a network and most blocks now have ForgeMultipart support. The majority of the core mechanics have remained the same though, so I'm not sure if we should make this a separate page. It may be easier to just integrate this into the existing Applied Energistics article. --dgelessus (talk · contribs) 19:19, 13 April 2014 (CEST)
- Direwolf said it was enough to call it a new mod, and give it a mod spotlight instead of an update spotlight. It was also given its own download page and wiki. If you believe it is easier to integrate, do it, I will support it either way.Imanton1 (talk) 21:02, 13 April 2014 (CEST)
How to disable Channels without removing the ME Controller?[edit]
The Mod makes say that you can disable the Channels in the config, but as soon as you do that, your world gets backed up, and you get the message that the ME Controller is not.. "in the game" anymore, or something like that, and that they have been removed from the world. Now i have no channels anymore, but also, no ME System... What do i have to do, to keep the ME Controller, but get rid of the channels? The mod is unplayable with this limit. Used to have thousands of machines on one cable/side, now it's limited to 3 1/2 machines (7 im/export bus)
Keeping track of the different types of crystals and their uses[edit]
So, as a newcomer to Applied Energistics 2, I often find myself stumbling over the uses of the differenct forms of quartz and their unique uses. So I've done some digging in NEI and come up with a handy reference table for my own use.
The information here is correct for Blightfall, which does a lot of mod tweaking, so I have no idea how much of it will be correct for the unadulterated version of AE2. Also note that this is listing unique uses - uses of materials that are COMMON to all types of that crystal are considered irrelevant.
" Certus Quartz: Natural
- used in a Thaumcraft alchemy recipe in Thaumic Energistics to duplicate into 2 Certus Quartz
- Can be put in a charger to convert to Charged Certus Quartz
- Used to create Certus Quartz Wrench and the Certus Quartz Cutting Knife
Charged
- Used to make Charged Quartz Fixtures for lighting
- Used to make Fluix (along with Nether Quartz and Redstone Dust)
Pure
- Used to create Printed Calculation Circuits-> Calculation Processors
Nether Quartz: Natural
- Only viable form for some non Applied Energistics uses of Nether Quartz
- Used in a Thaumcraft alchemy recipe in Thaumic Energistics to duplicate into 2 Nether Quartz
- Used with a Botania Conjuration Catalyst to duplicate into 2 Nether Quartz
- Used to make Fluix (along with Charged Certus Quartz and Redstone Dust)
Pure
- No unique uses
Fluix: Natural
- No unique uses
Pure
- Used to make ME Controller
NB: Quartz Dust (Certus or Nether) and Fluix Dust can only be obtained from impure crystals and are also used for crafting. Remember to keep some Dust set aside for these purposes. "
Does anyone know if the above is correct for an unedited version of Applied Energistics? As I said, I created this from a Blightfall environment, and that does a lot of mod tweaking. And, if correct, does anyone think this would be a useful addition to the AE2 tutorial collection? Or am I unusual in that I get mixed up with these crystal variants?
